RE: Load Test
Dear Mr. Kenner:
A CTI representative load tested an 8" cast aluminum well cover supplied by manufacturer. Inital measurements were taken of height from cover plate recessed ring to base (readings A - D equally spaced around the circumference) and outside diameter half way between base and cover plate ring (readings E and F at right angles to one another).
Each load level was applied in approximately one minute span and held for one minute. The load was then released and measurements were taken. A Forney 400,000 lb. test machine (CTI SN 000191) was used to apply the load. A 2" by 13" round steel plate was used to equally distribute the load across cover plate and the top rim.
The cover was examined after completion of the 300,000 lb. load level and there was no visual signs of failure.
